Comprehensive Eye Exam Q & A
What does a comprehensive eye exam involve?
A comprehensive eye exam at Marano Eye Care is designed to address the myriad aspects that affect the health of your eyes and vision. These assessments are meant to create a clear picture of your ocular health and offer solutions for any issues you may be experiencing.
The team at Marano Eye Care appraises your eyesight and eye health in the following ways:
External eye exam
This exam checks your scleras, irises, pupils, and eyelids for changes, new symptoms, and other issues.
Internal eye exam
The internal eye exam is an in-depth look at your optic nerve and retinas. If needed, you can have a diabetic eye exam with specialized retinal testing.
Disease screening
Disease screening checks for early indicators of conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Eye function tests
These tests evaluate your side (peripheral) vision, central vision, depth perception, color vision, pupil light response, eye focusing, eye teaming, and more.
Visual acuity and refraction
Visual acuity testing evaluates your eyesight using an eye chart and other means. If you need vision correction, you'll try a variety of lenses to find the ideal prescription.
Marano Eye Care is proud to be a patient-centric small practice that uses state-of-the-art equipment to perform the most thorough eye exams for every individual's needs.
How frequently do I need eye exams?
You'll get a personalized recommendation at Marano Eye Care. Typically, you need an annual eye exam. This yearly eye examination allows you to update your glasses or contact lenses if needed and also serves as an eye health checkup.
What type of eyeglasses do I need?
After your exam, you'll get a new prescription. Marano Eye Care offers all types of eyeglasses, including the latest lenses and frame styles, in their on-site optical shop.
If you need one prescription, you'll get single-vision lenses, but you can also get bifocal or progressive lenses with two or more prescriptions. You can also opt for special lens treatments to filter blue light, glare, UV rays, and more.
