New Jersey LASIK Eye Surgery

For the past 20 years, LASIK (Laser in situ keratomileusis) has been the most popular elective surgery in the United States. For people who are tired of contact lenses or eyeglasses, it’s easy to see why. Countless studies have shown that LASIK provides individuals with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism a safe and efficient outpatient solution to better eyesight. So how does LASIK work, and what are your options?

How Blade-less LASIK Surgery Works

LASIK is a customizable and elective outpatient eye surgery that uses an excimer laser to enter into the corneal tissue to begin repairs. After a corneal flap has been created, the excimer laser will remodel the underlying corneal tissue with invisible ultraviolet light, until it reaches a predetermined shape specifically chosen for the patient. A computerized eye tracker will closely monitor any movements to assure safety and eliminate the fear of your eye moving during the surgery. Once the laser has adjusted the corneal tissue to the desired state, our skilled surgeons will flip the outer corneal flap back and reposition it to its original state. No sutures are needed for the corneal flap to heal, but medicated, anti-inflammatory eye drops will be used to prevent swelling and infection for a week.

At Marano Eye Care, our laser technology allows us to measure the eye’s imperfections down to the microcosm, ensuring the patient the highest level of satisfaction with his or her surgery.

100% Bladeless LASIK Surgery

Marano Eye Care has always made the comfort and safety of our patients the foundation of our practice, and that’s why we solely use the iLasik system from Abbott Medical Optics. The laser technology is clinically proven to be the safest and most accurate surgical method available. After several years of performing LASIK on thousands of patients, it’s clear to us that this blade-less technology is not only more precise – but safer for our patients. You can expect the following when opting for a bladeless LASIK procedure:

  • A more stable, precise and uniform flap
  • More precise flap thickness
  • Higher chance that you will be a candidate for LASIK
  • Decreased likelihood of dry eye symptoms
  • Possible faster recovery of vision
  • Reduced risk of epithelial growths

According to a study by Abbott Medical, an evaluation of approximately 500 patients a month after LASIK revealed:

  • 95% of nearsighted patients gained at least 20/20 vision
  • Approximately 70% of patients felt their vision was better than it was using glasses
  • 97% of nearsighted patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the results
